The Mersey Moot is held annually for some 1000+ Explorer Scouts, Ranger Guides, Network & Inspire members at Tawd Vale.

Friday Night

On the Friday evening you will be asked to book in and set up camp. From 7pm there will be a live band and megamix in the marquee.

By prior arrangement you are welcome to come and setup your camp on the Thursday evening or anytime Friday. Please contact us if you intend to setup before the Moot office opens at 4pm on the Friday.

You'll need to make sure you have the forms required when you go to the booking office.

Saturday

Saturday is the major activity session, starting at 10:00 am you can canoe, shoot air rifles and you can even try your hand at archery or maybe you would like a try at Circus Skills then there is Trampolineing or anything listed below!

For the less energetic there is always the opportunity to have a try at some old and some not so old crafts, or just take the time to stroll round the various displays. Call in at the Snack Bar and make some new friends.

As the sun goes down, the lights go up for Moot Madness. At 7pm the mood changes and we get ready for Moot Madness and the live DJ set.

Sunday

Sunday is set aside for some light hearted activities including the SUPER MOOTER our very own version of It’s a Knockout (with MUD), many of Saturdays Activities and Crafts will continue. Prizes and Certificates are presented at the closing ceremony which brings the weekend to a Close.

Bookings

Bookings can be made by visiting the booking page on our website. Bookings should be made on a group basis by a leader, under a single group name. A booking reference will then be provided to allow you to add additional numbers to your booking at a later date if required, for as long as spare tickets are available.
Bookings for Moot 2024 will open on Monday 13th May 2024
Yes, you will need your original booking reference to do this. Just click the bookings link on this website when the tickets are on sale.
Payments can be made by bank transfer or card payment, all the details for doing this are provided during the booking process. Unfortuantly we can nolonger accept cash or cheque.
Unfortunately tickets are strictly non refundable.
Unfortunately due to the popularity of the event, we only offer full weekend tickets. Please contact us if your group is unable to camp due to hard to meet extra requirements.
T-Shirts can be pre-ordered through the bookings syste. You will need your booking reference and email address
Your group t-shirt pre-order will be ready for you to collect when you arrive at the event reception to check-in on Friday evening.
Day visitors are only permitted if a weekend ticket has been purchased, we do not sell individual day only tickets.
This event is open to 14 to 25 year olds in the Explorer, Ranger, Network, Inspire and Young Leader sections. We do not permit under 14's to attend this event.

General

You will be able to access Tawd Vale from Thursday evening to set up your camp sites in advance if you wish. Timings and details for this will be emailed to the contact that made the booking.
Unfortunately camping on Thursday night is not permitted.
The Moot reception opens at 4pm on Friday. With prior arrangement leaders can come to Tawd Vale whenever they like on Friday to setup camp.
Due to the popularity of the event, parking spaces are very limited. Please make every effort to use minibuses, coaches and ride sharing to help reduce congestion on site. Once parked on site, it may not always be possible to get your vehicle out of the parking space until Sunday afternoon. All vehicles must display a carparking pass on the dashboard in case we need to make contact with you during the weekend.
Yes, to save parking spaces we'd prefer this option. Coaches and busses have good access to the main park, but you will need to carry your bags from there. Please inform us if you are arriving by coach so we can ensure a suitable coach parking space is available for your arrival.
We cannot guarantee that your camping site will have vehicle access, please be prepared that camping equipment may need to be transported a short distance by hand.
On your arrival, please report to event reception to check-in, here somebody will be able to show you where your group is camping. Please do not set up camp without first checking which site your group has been allocated.

We will make all efforts to accommodate site requests where we can, however due to the event popularity this may not always be possible.
Camp fires are permitted as long as they are safely contained in a raised firepit. A limited supply of fire barrels and stands are available to use from Tawd Vale. Please speak with a member of the Tawd team to arrange using one of these. All fire ashes must be disposed at the designated disposal point.
There will not be any indoor accommodation available to book for this event.
Yes, hot showers are available throughout the weekend, located to the rear of the Delph toilet block.
Group catering is not provided. However 'Wendy's Café' is open in the main marquee throughout the weekend supplying refreshments. Tawd Vales providor is also available to camp centre throuout the weekend too.
This is no problem. But please do not arrnage delivery betweek 4pm - 8pm on Friday. Please meet the delivery van in the main car park
Large mixed waste bins are located in the main carpark. Please bag and dispose of all your waste in the bins provided.
The 'Merseyside First Aid Support Team' is on hand throughout the weekend to assist with any medical needs. They are based at the main activity field and at their base in the main carpark.
The Merseyside First Aid Support Team can support with storage of medication that requires storage in a refrigerator.
We do not currently provide any facility for charging devices.
The closing ceremony is at 3pm on Sunday but youre welcome to continue striking camp until 5pm.

Daytime Activities

We've got loads of activities on offer throughout the day, from tree climbing to canoeing, from inflatables to crafts there's something to entertain everyone.
Football, volley ball, tug of war and Supermoot. Teams must be registered on Saturday morning to enter into these competitions. One team per group is permitted to allow a chance for each group to take part.
All activities are included in the ticket cost. However we request a fully refundable cash deposit for booking a team for the Supermoot and sports events.
Activities will start at 10am, with an hours pause at 12noon for a chance for some lunch. In the afternoon activies will restart at 1pm and finish at 5pm. On Sunday all activities will finish for midday.
Registration open on Saturday morning next to the main marquee. Each team must pay a fully refundable deposit to enter. One team from each group can register for each event. Unfortunately spaces are limited for each event.
Ran on the Sunday morning, this is a team event where you compete against other teams across various bases to win the Supermoot trophy. All we'll say is that you need to be prepared to get wet and muddy!

Sports type clothing suitable for swimming in such as t-shirts, shorts or leggings. For H&S reasons closed toe shoes must be worn during the activities, so please bring a pair of suitable trainers or water shoes for the activity. Boots or wellies are not permitted. We'd also recommend bringing a towel down to the Delph too. All other equipment will be provided.
In the main marquee we have several stalls, including 'Wendy's Café' for refreshments. The Tawd Vale providore will also be open during the day in camp centre for purchasing refreshments. If you haven't already pre-ordered one, then a limited supply of Moot T-shirts will also be available to purchase
All shooting activities (archery, rifle, tomahawks and clay pigeon) require a signed parental permission slip for under 18s. The activity instructor will request to see this before you can take part in the activity.

Evening Activities

Evening entertainment includes a live band, live DJs, Moot Madness, silent disco and a late night movie screening... as well as some other surprises too.
Evening entertainment starts at 7pm. With respect for the local communities all entertainment will finish by 12pm. We request that after this time everybody makes their way back to their campsites and noise is kept to a minimum.
Wendy's Café will be open until late selling refreshments should you wish.
Entertainment will finish at 12pm, we request you are back on your own campsites by 1am. Leaders are responsible for ensuring their young people comply with these timings.
